Stock SV27 ESC and 14 cell NiMH TROUBLES!!!????

Okay........lets get this figured out. ESC works fine with 12 cells but when I switch to 14 cells sometimes it takes off on its own like someone else is controlling it. I've seen on this forum and in the OSE description for this ESC that taking out the RED WIRE from the esc to the receiver and using a separate receiver pack corrects this problem. Well, took it out yesterday with the red wire removed and when using 14 cells the problem was worse than ever. The boat actually slammed into the pond wall and completely punched in the nose of my SV

So what is the story here does this trick actually work or is it a joke, has anyone else pulled out the red wire and had it work???? Do you have to remove the receiver battery since there is no ON/OFF switch to stop signal interference????

I'm thinking this ESC is junk, maybe the UL-1 esc doesn't have these problems.

    Thanks,
    Tbone

I removed the red wire from the esc and installed a cc bec (http://www.offshoreelectrics.com/pro...tle-bec&cat=75) for when I use to run 14cell and it is still installed even though I run Lipo now. I switched rx/tx though to a tatic 2.4g and never have had a problem, so to answer part of your question it does work.

Sounds to me that you have a radio problem. Did the receiver get wet? One problem is that AM radios are notoriously "glitchy." I would try either an FM or preferably a 2.4 ghz system like the tactic mentioned above.

I have two of these boats and never a radio issue..
I've also run 5s in my SV27 after I removed the red wire and used a rx pack, and it works great for me

Thanks for the input guys!!! I'm thinking it was a radio issue. I'm gonna switch to the 2.4gz radios

I've run my boat with 5s with the BEC. My stock radio was fine. In fact I still use it in my rescue boat and I send that thing out very far sometimes with out a glitch. Then again I use FM for all my other stuff.

Yea I use the stock SV radio in my RIO EP rescue boat. I really don't like it but it works. Gets a lot of use with the way I drive
