    Looking for Help

I ran some 2S 4000A 15c Lipo's today the boat stopped in the middle of the lake after a five minute run. Finally got it back and the batteries were burnning up.

Now i have taken everything apart and have the motor and esc sitting on my bench, hook it all up and all that happens is the motor beeping. I have tried to adjust the throttle trim, checked the receiver plugs and just about everything!!

When motor does go it runs with out me pulling the trigger on the RX when I pull the trigger the motor stops???

I am running all stock (ESC; Motor; RX) Lost as a goose any ideas?

Lets start withe the most common culprit....your batteries.

If they were "burning up",,,what were the temps of the motor and controller when you got it back?

Your batteries are what brand??,,,,,,they are theoretically good for 60 amps, but I suspect they are E-Bay cheepies,,,yes,,,no? in which case, they are probably over rated and only good for half (realistically), which is insufficient for your needs.

Could be that one or more of your cells have died.

Have you checked each of the cell voltages?

Is your throttle setting at normal, or reversed on the transmitter? Sounds like your setting has been reversed. if when you pull the trigger, it stops.

Thanks for the response, yes they are ebay batteries, I have some on Turneys on order from hobbycity. The Motor and ESC were not too hot to the touch. I have checked the batteries and they checked out ok w/o damaged cells and are charged and now I when hooked up nothing happens! No beeps no servo movement nothing!

Ok, Batteries are balanced and charged, hook everything up and the motor just beeps constantly. no arm or disarm, just steady beeping. every now and then when i pull the throttle it will arm and the motor will just run until the it is disconnected. Could there be issues with teh ESC, or motor? any ideas?

If everything is connected right you would need to go thru with the arming sequence to get the speedo to arm. Plug the batts in, you get one beep, pull back all the way on the trigger and you get another beep. Let go of the trigger and it beeps several more, then its armed. Any throttle input should spin the motor.

If all you are getting is constant beeping the speedo is telling you something is wrong. Are your throttle settings wide open, did you make a "Y" adapter with the polarity right, is the throttle reversing switch in the right position?

Sounds like it ran fine then had an issue occur. Maybe the speedo is now hosed?Does the single cap on it look bulged, deformed or like it got discolored from heat?

ok when you say speedo you referring the esc (I'm new to the lingo). If so ther are two little black barrel looking things on one end, one has a silver cap and is a little larger, the other is smaller all black and has a buldge on the end of it. Is this the single cap you are referring too? If so that may be the problem, does the whole esc need to be replaced? if so and upgrade recommendations?

The capacitor on the speedo (ESC) is the one with the writing on it, has a silver end on it and you can read a micro farad value along with a voltage rating. The other black item sticking out is something else. Do you have another speedo you can swap out to test with? There are tons of replacements you can swap it out with if you find it to be bad or troublesome. Do you have another motor too? I cant imagine that the motor is part of the problem but at this point there is nothing defined so who knows.

I'm assuming you did the throttle end adjustment check and the throttle reversing check right?

No, I am new to this hobby and this is the only ESC and motor i currently own. The item that is bulging is not the capacitor, it still looks ok. The other black item is the one that is bulging a bit. I can not get the system to arm properly so I'm guessing it is the ESC. The when it does arm the motor just takes off and spins. I don't think it is the motor, i have the TX set up the same way it was when it was working fine so i don't think that is a problem either.

Could the problem be my RX? I opened it up today and there is a white goo on most of the board? is this normal?

I have (2) 2s 4000amh 15c Lipos and (2) 2s 5000amh 20c on order, anyone want to recommend an upgrade for the ESC and or motor? any assistance would be appricated.

Turns out motor and esc are fine; bad connection on the motor wiring!
