Good stuff. I had read through that thread before and actually had bent the trim tabs down as perscribed. It does work. In the interest of making as much straight line speed as I could, I bent them back flush and played around with CG some. I had it nice and stable, but now that I have changed motors, I may have to bend those tabs in on the corners again. Keep in mind the water was quite a bit rougher than usual.
Finally Broke 40!!!!!

It's called an XPower 540 3660-12. Picked it up on Ebay from a Chinese vendor. So far looks like a decent motor. I'll see how it holds up, but can definately tell you it is faster than the stock SV.
I also doesn't have any shaft back and forth play like the stock motor. That may or may not be an issue with the stock, but I didn't like it.Comment

Well, After changing out the motor and a little de-tongue of the prop, I have it up to 44mphThe pond was pretty rough, so I'm anxious to see what a smoother surface will do. This was also with a set of the Turnigy 2s5000's that have at least 65 or so cycles on them.
I "should" be able to get a little more out of herAttached FilesComment

Yes it is. I put it in a ziplock bag inside of the boat. Since my boat has been upside down in the pond for over 2 hours with out issue before....long story. The phone should be fine in the ziplock.
Anyhow, it saved me buying a gps when I already have one built into the phone..More money for buying more boats!!!
Since my job provides my phone and I manage the contract for the company(Network Admin).....it is my "fringe" benefit. It's basically been my only raise for the past 6 years......so why not use it.Comment

Found something else out this evening. I was concerned about heat, and it seemed that it was pulling too many amps from the esc. Or maybe I don't have enough cooling, but I think to be on the safe side, I need to up the esc. It wasn't consistent with running, and seeming to loose power if I held it wide open too long. The only comparison I have it that I could run the stock motor all day full throttle.
Here's the question. I have a CC60amp esc that I used in a heli. If I change the setup not to have a brake and seal it with some epoxy, do you think it is ok to use? The SV esc cooling jacket fits nicely against it.
What ya think?Comment

What's even worse is when the company has an automated system that pages you for every failure. Especially when you're on call. You have to be available to respond. Really wrecks your social life.Government Moto:

Well, My esc just doesn't like my new motor. I guess it's still pulling more amps than the esc can stand for a prolonged period. Would probably be good for SAWs type of running, but not racing. Going to have to get a pistix for my CC 60amp esc to run without burning something up. I think I will also have to add another cooling pickup.
Of course I didn't check to see how things would run if I propped down, since this is a higer kv motor. The electric tweaking is pretty new to me.....so I'm sure it is going to take some time to get the hang of things.Comment
