    Broke a flex shaft

I've been having troubles with my Supervee since day one and so I went through the whole thing and replaced just about everything. I had it at the pond the other day and the flex shaft broke off which caused me to lose my shaft, strut bushing, and my Grim Racer prop and it took on enough water through the hole to sink and I had to retrieve it. I bought a new flex shaft for it (forgot the bushing, but I put it back together to test it) and got it all hooked up and held it at 30% throttle or so and it didn't sound like it was spinning very freely. After a few seconds smoke started coming out of the stuffing tube and I stopped to keep from burning up the rest of my grease. I've still got the stock motor mount with a HobbyCity 9XL motor and a Kintec Racing 3 piece coupler and I can't figure out why I keep having issues with my driveshaft. The stock motor mount looks to me to be too high up in the hull and should be relocated lower to put less of an angle on the flex shaft to reduce stress on it but everyone else is running the stock motor mount with no issues.

Any ideas as to what could be causing all of this? I've run the boat 4 times now (had it for a year) and had to retrieve it every time, the last run was a record-setter and I made it about 100 feet before it died this time. I'm getting really frustrated with it, this boat seems to have a black cloud over its head.

Hello Steven, Verify that the flex is lined up with the coupler. Some have reported that it may not be lined up from the factory. Also get a bushing and grease it up. What kind of grease are you using? Are you using the stock prop?

I got it figured out, I don't get E-Mails when I get a response on this forum so it took me a while to get back. It turned out that I used too much grease on the shaft and it put too much strain on it and that is what caused the shaft to break. I replaced the shaft and properly greased the new one and it worked fine.
