    Hobby king lipos

Hey Guys. Finally makin the plunge to lipo. But not sure on quality brands. I saw some on hobby king that sound like they should work after reading a bunch of other threads. They are 2s 30c 3000 lipos. But they seem really cheap on this website. Like 20 bucks a piece. That doesn't sound right. I've paid alot more for nimh. I may be lookin at something wrong but any advice you could give me would be great. I'm ok with spending a little chunk of change but want to make sure they are quality.

I've got 35 cycles on a set that I have without any issues at all. I also have another set with 6 cycles. No problems with them either. It seems too good to be true, but so far so good. I'm going to pick up another set in the next couple of weeks.

I've heard lots of great stuff about the lipos from Hobby King -I bought 4 Turnigy 5000 20C to use in my sv27 with a 540 11L and 90 A ESC. Unfortunally one of the packs wouldn't charge. So I ordered some of the Rhino 4900 which I have heard is the best budget LIPO. They are even narrower so they are a better fit for the SV.

If I were to run a XL or NEU motor I guess I would buy better lipo's but for a low amp draw setup in the SV I think these would do the job. They will after all deliever about 100A continously, and the stock ESC will not draw more than 45 A.

Continously? Is there anyone who have measured what the ESC draws continously/peak?

It's the motor that determins the amp draw not the esc..
this is why alot of escs burn because the motor is pulling more amps than the esc can handle..

                        You're right, my bad

Will a motor always try to take out its maximum performance? So if a motor has a max of 500w, it tries to pull out 500 watts of the ESC? So if you use higher volts, det amp-draw is lower?

Sorry for the perhaps stupid questions, I'm not an engineer

It depends on the load on the motor. The higher the load the more amps it will draw. There are many factors involved such as hull type, size, weight, prop size/pitch, strut depth, and so on. You can burn up a motor, ESC, and lipo's if the load is causing higher amps than things are rated for. Heat will be the first sign of a problem and you should take short runs and check temps often with any change in setup.
