Setup : 2X 2S Elite 35C 5000's ; strut 1 1/16 from hull to bottom of strut; @ 3 deg downforce; 1/2" plastic angle iron air dam ; Grimracer 40x57/3 S&B; Octura .150 drive cable, returned servo arm to stock position. Slight wind, small wind chop. Much trickier to get nose out of water with this prop, but once you get the hang of it, no biggie. No water leaks at all. Boat really ripped & was super fun to drive. I feel better now

Tony, no stress cracks, after your mods?
Does that prop submarine the hull, unless you use full throttle?
Thanks,
Douggie -
Douggie, no cracks that I can see. Had a small [ @ 3/4 "] one where the hull join line is and about 1 inch forward from where the left sponson ends. Not a stress crack as I could tell, but just a crack in the gelcoat/paint. I just covered it with 3M 5200.
The prop does submarine the hull but once you get the hang of popping it up, it's easy & worth it with this prop.

Great Tony, how does this setup compare with your previous post with an m445 and the strut angle @ 5-degree down at the prop end?

George, The run with the M445 was two weeks ago so there was no side-by-side comparison. I do remember that the M445 run seemed faster, but the boat did some violent sponson dancing. I like the way the 40/57/3 performed, although it was a little trickier avoiding submarining at startup. Once you get the hang of it, 'tho, it gets easy.2008 NAMBA P-Mono & P-Offshore Nat'l 2-Lap Record Holder; '15 P-Cat, P-Ltd Cat 2-Lap

I need to figure out the sponson dance too. Mine does it too much. Glad you got some good runs in though!

I have a crazy "theory" regarding the sponson dancing, and mine was much reduced after I did this : Replacing the 2-blade prop with the 3-blade 40/57/3. Less time between the beating of the blades on the water per rev. I also replaced the stock shaft with an Octura .150. The stock shaft was prone to much more windup/release. Just grab the prop & twist; you'll see what I mean. The Octura does much less of this & benefits from a 3/16 th prop nut instead of the stock 4mm one. Co-incidentally

I've not tried my 2 blade prop yet so I don't think that has anything to do with my problems. I'm thinking I need more down force up front...lower the prop a little? That's what I'm going to try next time mine has the "Hospital Hop"!
