Never thought about it, I guess it would add drag and races always run in a clockwise direction.

Because of propwalk and always turning to the right, the fin is only needed on the right sponson. The fin is one reason why hydros don't turn left very well, and I suspect that if you mounted another one on the left sponson too you'd have trouble turning at all. Imagine the bost turning and trying to slide to the outside of the turn. A single fin grabs hold and helps to limit the sliding. If it was on the outside of the hull, the boat would likely trip and roll over...

It appears from the video footage of my test runs that the boat will skip like a rock across the water as it goes through the turn...as if the boat rises up on the fin, then the fin drops back down into the water only to rise up again. Once the sponson on the outside of the turn is airborne, it's a matter of luck as to whether that leads to a tumble, or just skipping.

I was wondering if turn fins on both sides, with substantial anhedral...with the tips folded inward towards the other fin...would keep the inside sponson on the water even if the outside sponson skipped a bit. But, I am in no rush to mod my UL-1 with a second mount: has anyone ever tried two fins?
