Anyone have any isses with the flex cables that kintec sells for the UL-1. Got it today and the flex cable is super tight. The prop shaft has to be pushed pretty hard into the copper tubing(even with the teflon removed completly)it will not spin using your fingers. Thanks

[QUOTE=h2o 1;396000]mine fit perfect ,even with the liner. is it the .150 upgrade flex cable? maybe they sent the wrong cable,.187? i should slide right in with ease[/QUOTE
Is your prop shaft about the same as the stock one or is it a tight fit??
ThanksComment

The kintec upgrade ul 1 flex cable is the same diameter as the stock flex cable. the only difference is the kintec version uses thicker wire strands and the threads on the prop shaft will be 10/32 on the kintec version. it should just slide right in! Do you have any dents or creases in your stuffing tube?Comment

No dents or creases. It does slide in but its very tight. maybe I am only used to stock flex cable????? Had to ream the bushing out some. Now it slides. I have to like the shaft up with the motor inside the hull. Any suggestions. I thought about sticking a screw driver into the tubing and then bending it down a little. I also saw the idea about opening up the motor mount holes. Any suggestions???? Thanks again,

I would open the motor mount holes before i stuck anything other than a flex cable down that stuffing tube to bend it! Can you upload pics? It would be better for forum members if they could see ur problem. Could be a simpler fix than drilling and bending.Comment

I no longer use non branded flex cables, tried a couple and found the stub shafts to be inconsistent in diameter, one you could barely push a prop on!
Tried one hyperformance, well never used it, the weld was ground eccentric. Had a bad wobble.
Back to only using Hughey welded cables, have to trim them to length but I think it's a more than worth the effort for much better quality.
Never had a failure with one even going way back into the nitro days. Worth the extra price if it saves you a S&B'd prop.If my boats upside down then who owns the one I thought I was driving the last two laps?

I will try and get pics later. At work now. Basicly the issue is that the new flex shaft it tighter and and does not bend like the stock. Because the copper tubing is just a little higher than where the collet sits it is causing a tight bond. It will work but if the tubing were a little lower it would be a straight shot and have no tention.Comment

Have you tried bending your motor mount to improve the alignment between the motor coupler, stuffing tube, and flex shaft?Comment
