    My UL-1 mods

Cut the sponsons open to pour 2 part foam in the sponsons and run my batts sideways for better handling and less chine walking, added Kintec stuffing tube bracket Grim 40 x 57/3 prop and Kintec internal and external turn fin bracket. Also not pictured is a 1/4" x 3/8 inch wide air dam

it took 1.5oz in each sponson of the 2 part foam (.75oz part A and .75oz part B ) the tape arrow shows where it filled to, you can use 2oz total in each sponson if you don't run the batts sideways

here is a vid my son made with his Ipod, not a great vid but a vid none the less...lol

That is a novel way to mount the batteries. Never thought about that method? Always takes a guy thinking outside the box to turn us old timers into new believers. As long as you have considered the issues associated with cutting a couple holes in the hull and taking advantage of the location/ placement of the batteries its got merit. You got me thinking. Not many can make that happen.

This was mentioned in past posts and had good response, it helps with the chine walk issue some are having problems with.
it's also a good way to deal with upgraded power systems ( esc , batts, motors and speed ).
I myself have not none this yet but it might be the the next step in high speed configuration. and handling issues.
find the thread that where, whats is name? got 68 mph on 4s. sure he had a big ,modded prop and no turn fin, but he still got that speed off of 4s, Now i'm not saying he did not burn up his esc in two runs but it was done on a stock UL-1 with the right prop mod.
most of us are lucky to hit 50 mph and high 50s with prop mods and higher volts on stock parts but be warened it will cook your esc and motor sooner or later.
      it will happen.
so push the limits if you dare and have the $$$ to upgrade and see what you can do.

I can't take credit for the battery placement mod, Diesel is the one that suggested it to me, but it definately works. the chine walking is considerably less now
