    Making my ul-1 faster….

ok so the hull got 48 consistantly on gps with stock stuff and 40/57/3. but now i want to upgrade a little and run 5s1p so im looking to upgrade motor, but i dont want a total power hog, because ill be running the 2s+3s packs. im thinking maybe the stock mc motor, a leopard 3674, or a feigao l or xl. so whose got some advise for me…. the hull is stock other than the air damn and a better motor mount. thanks

I would think the Leopard 540XL 2200kv on 4s would get you to mid 50's easy. Thats what I want to try anyway. Maybe a 120amp speedo? A 180 would be ideal, but with the way the wires come out, it kind of screws you. I had a SF 200 in mine that fits much better. I ran my old UL-1 on 6s before, and it was too much for the hull.

I've run the UL-1 quite a few times on 5s with no problems on stock motor and ESC, but I 'm sure it's just a matter before it goes up in smoke.
I belive the motor will handle 5s but for safety I would upgrade the ESC to somthing that can handle 6s minimum.
your doing great hitting your speeds with stock stuff and that prop, what are your settings, strut height, ect?

no idea man lol i got the strut somewhere in the middle lol and uhm…. an air damn. i never really screw with it that much. the turn fin is level when the boat is sitting on the strut and sponsons. other than that, whats to tell?

i can tell you i spent ALOT of time on that 40/57/3…. more than i ever have to spend on any octura prop. that thing is really rough and the blades are so damn thick, they really needed heavy filing and thinning.

Only a matter of time before that motor blows. That 2030 motor is def not 6s motor. I would refer to this thread http://forums.offshoreelectrics.com/...ession-with-6s

I would assume the amp load will soon be to much. Did you dis-able the bec on the esc? I always dis-able above 4s on all my esc's and run a rx pack. Once the hull gets into the mid 50s it just gets all over the place. I had my strut depth arond 1 1/8" if memory serves me right. Been a long time sense I had that boat. With the prices of Leopard motors if I had a chance to do it over i would try some new things on that boat.

I'm thinking of putting a Feigao 12xl 1390 kv with a turnigy 120 esc in eather the UL-1 or in the impulse 31 down the road running
5-6s this motor should have alot of torque to handle modded props ects.w'ell see, should be intresting.

im kinda stuck, i cant decide on running something in the 1800 kv range on 5s1p, or a leopard 2200kv and 4s2p. i wish i could make up my mind lol

IMG_0903.jpg here is what i did. changed the motor mount. believe it or not you can squeeze a 4074 in that mount with jacket. also those are 4 s packs and the cowl fits fine

If you get a larger motor like the Leopard 4074 or Keda 4074 you can swing a larger prop. You could use a Leopard 4074 1800kv on 4s1p and swing a larger lifter prop like a L44x66 or L45x68 or you could use a higher kv Keda 2363kv motor on 4s2p and swing a L40x57 at a higher rpm or possible a L42x66. Then there's the 2000kv leopard or 2039kv keda that with a smaller prop you could get away with 4s1p. Just some options lol.

I would use a higher spinning 2200kv motor and smaller prop (m440, L40x57, or x442). I used two 4s3300mah packs wired parallel (this helped add more weight). My UL-1 easily reached speeds over 50mph

The second picture with the purple fiegeo motor (1800kv) was slower using larger props.

A bizarre incident in the outskirts of an American suburb. It was later revealed the disaster was caused by the T-Virus. A mutagentic toxin created by Umbrella Incorporated for use in bio-weapon experiments. Don't worry the zombies are looking for brains, you're safe.
