Im running 2 SPC 2S 40C 5200mah packs. They are much faster than my 30C packs but they get really hot... like 125 degrees hot. Im from the wheeled RC world and done know just how hot these things are supposed to get, but to me, thats really hot.
Stock setup on 40C...anyone using this?

Ok guys .So I am new to OSE but I am a member of RCC and just an all around RC junky. My question is can you run 2 diffrent brand batt packs as long as it is the same volt/ma/c raiting. Like for example I have a 7.4v venom 5000 30c and I am prob going to buy some sky or blu 5000 30c.Can I mix them up?Thanks for any help.
I almost forgot. I just purchased a UL1Comment

First, 125*F is not too hot for quality cells, anything below 140*F is okay with them. Cheap cells...it's a pig in a poke.
It is never a good idea to run two different brand packs in series, particularly when one brand is well known to be junk. What can happen if you do? If you run your boat to the LVC, one pack can overheat and puff...or even start a fire. Only you can determine acceptable risk.

C rating alone does not determine the discharge rate, to determine discharge rate you take the C rating X amp rating, i.e. 40c X 5 amps ( which would be 5000mah ) = a 200 amp max discharge rate. So if you have a large Mah rating you can have a lower C rating and be equivelent. Example - 6000mah 20c would be 20x6= 120 amp discharge.....but a 3000mah 40c would have the same 120 amp max discharge....3x40= 120VS1 FE - UL-1 - Motley Crew - Miss Geico - Kintec Prince - Rio 51z - 1/16 Summit - 1/10 Summit - Ken Block Rally - Kyle Busch Truck - Losi Mini SCT - BL E-MAXX - Assoc FT SC10 - Wild Willy - Clodbuster - Sand Scorcher......Comment

if you go below the 80% rule on these high amp loads from boats, you can cause them to run hotter than mine do...NAMBA20...Caterpillar UL-1, P-Spec OM29, P-Mono DF33, P-Spec JAE, Aussie 33" Hydro-LSH, Sprintcat CC2028 on 8s, PT SS45 Q Hydro, PS295 UL-1 power, OSE Brothers Outlaw QMono 4-sale, Rio 51z CC2028 on 8sComment
