    Prevent Batteries from Puffing?

I have been having a blast running my stock UL1 and chasing the ducks. However, this last time, I noticed that one of my battery packs was slighly warm and had the tiniest of bulges in it. I'm thinking it was more than just warm as it was running so the question is, The motor, ESC, are both doing just fine, even when I was running WOT most of the time, but the batteries appear to be the weak link.

Is it possible to keep the batteries from getting too hot? Change battery typs? I don't know what throttle control is... I have ON/Off, that's pretty much it.. Isn't that how it should be?

    What batteries?

PS...chasing ducks is not to bright. Pisses off a lot of people and depending on where you run, can get you kicked off the pond really quickly.

      2S Lipos's 5kmAh each.

P.S. :) Do you REALLY think I'm chasing ducks? Either way, they are a nuisance in the lake in my community. The HOA "planted" a few there for Ambiance. What they ended up with is ducks in the pool, ducks in the lake, ducks in private pools. Nests everywhere, not to mention LOTS of poop in the public pool. The ducks feel so welcome and unthreatened that they started pecking at my 3 y/o daugther (about 50 of them) when she brought some bread. Now what's happened is they've attracted predators. There is now an alligator in our lake. Last sighted, he was about 4 feet... just big enough to call a duck dinner... What's REALLY sad, is the HOA is trying to correct the problem by having a trapper take the ducks to other wetlands. What happens now is some little old wealthy lady by the pond, heards the ducks into her garage... keeps the trapper from getting them....

      I'm thinking Duck Stew....

What C Rating are the batteries.

Hey, you said you were and some people are stupid enough to do it right in front of others.

          C-Ducks...

          20C?? I think?

Ok... OK... I've splashed the ducks... but they were on shore. They're ugly, and nasty, but they ain't stupid.... I think they figured it out when I mounted a flame thrower on the front... I was trying to cook their goose...

              Doby,

I just called my LHS (in Sugarland Tx) and the owner (Bucky aka Matt) told me the batteries are 20C. He said that isn't high enough to which I mentioned his boat person recommended them. He has apparently canned the boat person and offered to swap out the batteries with 40C batteries and give me a break on the price. You can't beat this LHS... He's a great guy.

Thats good news..but 20 C shoud be fine dependng on the brand. I'm still running 2 year old 20C 5000 mah Turnigys in mine with no issues.

You said your setup was stock. Including the prop? If so They should have been fine.

Gotta ask again. What brand are they?

There's your problem. Venom Batteries are notoriously poor in performance.

Never feed the ducks or other water foul. You are only inviting them to come close to you and your family.Whether they are a pain or not, dont feed them.Thats why your daugher was pecked. They saw food and came right for it.Leave the bread at home.
As far as your batteries, run the highest C rating you can afford.20c in a UL-1 is too low.Run at least a 30c.You can use Turnigy packs-they perform well enough for playing around.Or you could spend a bit more on Hyperion packs that OSE sells.

Larry, The ducks started off as about a dozen; however, the lake is surrounded by the rich-folk's houses (some around 6000 sq ft... barf). The throw the bread over their back fences and have been for the past several years. Last year the pool was so filled with duck poop, I called the health department. It's sick. I asked the HOA if I could make duck soup... he said no.

Funny thing is I told the guy their are so many ducks due to the plentiful food supply, as well as the minimal threats to their survival (except for the 1 alligator). I told the dude they needed to feel less safe and I have a small RC boat... he laughed and in a halting voice said "I, of course, can not advise you to do that; however, you are free to use the lake as you choose..."

I asked him if he was giving me permission to drive the ducks off, and he just laughed and repeated his last statment... pretty funny if you'd heard it....

I image a duck would not be a very good thing for the boat... Most of the residents hate them now, especially now with thealligator....
