    filing cracks ? hot lipo's

I am very new to rc boating. first season was a complete dissaster, broken shaft , submarine etc. You guys on here have been great for info. after hearing of cracks and such I checked mine and I do have a crack on the inside corner of the port sponson, I would assume it is from one of many high speed rollovers. What is the best way to repair. Bass Pro Shops sell a clear squeeze on tube of clear gel coat. Is this too heavy ? or am I better finding some CA glue ? thanks.

The best cure I have found for all the launching probs is push down the stern and gas it.
one more question, motor seems cool batteries warm but you can hold, yet they swell up bad after running , turnigy 5000's. charging they are fine . never happened last year

    thanks guys

Do the packs un-swell after they cool down? Some packs will swell slightly when they get hot, then go back to the normal size when they cool down. If they do not shrink back then they are bad and should not be used again. They should be disposed of due to the risk of fire. Do you have photos of them swelled?

Packs can go bad for several reasons, including:

    - Overheating past 160*F
    - Overcharging past 4.25 volts per cell
    - Over-discharging below 3.0 volts per cell
    - Charging without the periodic use of a balancer
    - Charging at too high a rate for the cell
    - Cells eventually give up after (hopefully) hundreds of cycles

yes they do shrink back down. the only way I charge them is in balance mode as that is all the time the guy at the shop would give me to teach the use of charger I use a turnagy accucell 6 charger, balancer. they don't swell huge , just concerned when you read how volitile lipos are.

In that case they are probably fine. Some LiPos will swell when hot, I had a set of ThunderPowers that did that but they always went down. They lasted about 100 cycles.
