UL-1 nose diving on take off

I just bought a used UL-1 and I can't get it on plane it just keeps nose diving in the water. I have even tried hand launching it and still wants to dig the nose in the water and will not get on plane. the boat goes under water thin the back end kicks up. I have done search with no luck.
any help would be awesome

First thing i would check is cog & strut angle, Make sure the cog isnt to far foward & that the strut angle isnt angled down at the prop nut end of the strut. Sit the boat on a flat surface & you will see how the strut sits & whether its down at the prop nut end by seeing clear daylight at the front of the strut & adjust accordingly. Thanks Martin.

Hit the throttle quickly and let off......It will dive, then bob up....when it bobs up, nail the throttle full....it will take off

Yea it's normal with hydros, do what Norm said and it should work that's how I do it. What prop/batts you using?

what should the strut angle and depth be at? I'm running 2 Turnigy 5000mAh 2S 20C hard case. (too heavy?) I believe the prop is the stock plastic. I have tried hitting the throttle quickly and letting off.

strut depth prolly about an inch or a little less. those packs are fine. just do what norm said. all ul-1's dive underwater, you'll get the hang of it after a couple of times. sometimes i like to see how far it will dive lol, ive got is so deep it has dissapeared hahaha

Those packs aren't too heavy. I have used 2 4s packs in paralell before because I needed the weight. I ran a grim L40x57 prop with my strut depth a 1 1/8". You should be close to 50mph with that grim prop and that strut depth. I wouldn't adjust the angle, it should be very VERY slight negative from the factory and is fixed at that angle. Just adjust the depth. I adjusted the angle on mine to neutral and the boat was cleared for takeoff everytime lol... Looks cool when it gets airborne!

You'll know too when you've over-adjusted the strut depth too high, because then she'll cavitate, spit water and not take off at all......Hey Dana, we should do some UL1 submarine races next year!

ok, I adjusted the strut to 1" and the angle it set to neutral. hopping we have nice weather this next week to give her a try. is there anything I need to know or setup before i take her out again.

With the stock prop I never ran 1" on the depth just with the L40x57. You may need to go about 3/4" on the stocker. If I am not mistaken I think the stock prop is around the same dimensions as a x440/3. Try what you have, if it doesn't work out back it off a little. It should run faster then it did before though!

Don't get frustrated if it takes some time to get on plane. Hold on when it does!

Grease the shaft well and bench test for water leaks....I made a water pressure tester out of a simple spring-water bottle......Drill a hole in cap, glue in place a straight water nipple.....you can then attach nipple to your water outlet hose, hold bottle upside down and squeeze as hard as you want....water will flow through system and you can check for leaks

ok, I ran the boat today and I started with the strut @ 1" still would not get on plane thin I made little adjustments taking it up and ended up with the strut as far up as it will go and still will not get up on plane. the batteries are all the way back. I'm not new to r/c boats just new to FE boat.
I don't know what else to do. Sell it?

Try hand launching the boat. The forward motion will be easier on the boat and prop when getting it on plane. BTW is your prop sharpened and balanced? You will notice a big difference in speed with the grim metal prop \m/
