    Alignment ?

OK While working on a hole in my ul-1, which I won't get into right now, I noticed
that the flex shaft does'ent line up with the colect ( does'ent this thing have spell check} anyway, how do you guys correct this, 1 elongate the motor mount holes from the motor to the mount or 2. elongate the holes from the motor mount to the hull or 3, try and bend the stuffing tube to line up with the colet, which I'm not crazy about in fear of cracking the hull.
any other coments would be greatfull.
the off set is about half the thickness of the the flex shaft, .075 or about 2/32
aprox since I am just eye balling it all.
it's not that bad but I like to be able to slde the shaft in with out resistance.
boy do I have a dirty mind

The easiest way is to just bend the stuffing tube. But you must make sure its alright to bend it the direction you need. This is going to require you to take off the strut. That way you can see if the stuffing tube was installed at an angle. The reason being if it was glued in at an angle that means that you are going to have an "S" bend. One direction coming down to the strut for misalignment and the opposite way and error going to the motor side. If the alignment is fine on the outside of the hull then go ahead and bend the inside end. Best way to do this is remove the bushing thats in the strut side of the stuffing tube, then push in the liner for an inch or two from the motor side. Take a 3/16 drill bit with the solid or non fluted end and insert it into the stuffing tube an inch or so. Bend it the correct amount required to get the alignment right and make sure its centered perfectly with the motor collet.

So you will need to remove the strut and the bushing. Then remove the motor and motor mount. This gives you plenty of clearence on the inside to do the job right. My recomendation is to have the motor and collet attached to the motor and mount. Then you just need hold the mount in place to ensure the alignment is perfect. Shouldnt take more then a half hour and your set.

The reason to not slot the holes in the mount is its a punched out piece of aluminum and unless the sides where bent wrong or the center section located incorrectly you want the motor to be centered in the hull. Those little 4 screws attaching the motor mount to the hull are a pain in the you know what but its doable.

Thanks I'll follow your instructions, does'ent seem to diffucult, the last time I bent the stuffing tube I just used a smaller tube inside the larger tube and it worked fine but I like your way better with the strut bushing.
      thanks again, you guys rock.
