    feigao 8xl...

    hello guys,

i receive my new motor 8xl for my ul-1, yesterday i make a test with it and my esc 120A turnigy, i use two lipo 2s 5000mah in serie and the timing motor is on 11.25°! i start the test at full throttle and all is alright for a few seconds and suddenly the power of the motor goes down as if the lipo were discharged while not!
After i test with a 0.00° for the timing motor and it is the same!

is the timing motor was wrong or the motor was defective?:cursing

PS: the stock motor (ammo 2030kv) working very well with my 120A esc on 11.25°

What type of prop are you running? Is the 8XL pulling too many amps for your Turnigy 120A ESC? Do you have a beefier ESC to test with the 8XL motor?

Check to see if the battery options is set for auto detect. That typicaly is a reason for the behaviour you are seeing.

I set timing at 7 degrees on all Fiegao motors based on suggestions from several threads on this forum. For me it seems the best combination of performance and temps. I agree with John about what is causing your problem. Set your esc manually for cell count and also check your lvc - I always use 3.4 volts.

I use a 8xl on 4S in a H&M Viper. I run the hydra 240LV just to be on the safe side. I think you are really pushin that 120 ESC hard. When you do get it figured out that thing is gonna fly!
            Many issues!!!

the 120 is perfect. Your LVC is set too high and is kicking in. Re-set it to 2.8 or 3.0 volts/cell or turn it off and time your runs.

3.4 volts is the highest setting and will definetly cause the lvc to kick in early.

Its almost garuntees your hitting the LVC. Make sure your batts are up to the task. Use caution when using low or no cutoff values. Just make sure to time your runs so you don't go under the 80% rule.

I used a 120/8xl in a 31" shovel nose without a problem. A higher amp esc would be better though.
