you want two 2s packs. the ul-1 is wired series so it makes 4s pack. you want at least 20c or up. also a better prop would be good. most people use 40/52/3 or 42/55 props

oh yeah, also upgrade the deans connectors. most guys use bullet connectors, but i use traxxas on my ul-1. never had a problem with them

A good place to start is by reading. Here's a good thread http://forums.offshoreelectrics.com/...ead.php?t=6249, if you bought your ul-1 recently the turn fin area should already be re-inforced and the water jacket leaking issue should also be fixed on your boat. For batteries 2 2s 5000mah 30c's would work great. Start with running the boat stock to see how it handles and runs, after that change to a grim racer L40x57 prop (make sure it's sharpend & balanced) and run it like that. Next play with strut depth. With that prop and the strut depth about 1" or a little more you should see high 40mph to low 50mph.

I just go a UL-1 also and I would sharpen the turn fin but only one side. I would also sharpen the rudder and extend the water pick up to the leading edge of the rudder. You will get a lot better cooling doing so. I also picked up the water jacket here on OSE. It is a great looking piece.
