UL-1 runnaway on first run!!! destroyed!!!

anyone have any radio issues with the tactic 2.4ghz radio or possibly the esc ?

launched boat after 20 feet she took off full throttle into the rock shoreline and shattered into a million pieces!? i had nothing no throttle response or rudder? called up aquacraft they want me to send boat in for testing which is impossible the boat is literally in 20 some odd pieces, they are talking about replacement of complete boat and or a discount on another new boat ? what do you guys think should be done ? anyone else have issues such as described?

That sucks. Did you range test the setup prior to running? I'd opt for replacing the entire boat, if they are willing.

Let me get this right - you set the boat in the water, hit the throttle and it took off but without steering. You released the throttle but it didn't slow down, is this correct?

How far was the opposite rocky shore from the launching point? What packs were you running? What FE boats have you run in the past?

If AQ is game, I'd go for a new UL-1.

Did you bench test it for rudder and throttle control, or just put the batteries in and add water?

i had bench tested the boat before all runs, im running twin turnigy 5000 mah 2s packs brand new this boat has had issues since i bought it, the first run it drove around fine until about 20 yards from shore and shut off, then jumped out of the water full throttle and i somehow got control back but untill then there was no steering or throttle control at all, so i swapped out radio and tx from my miss vegas which has about 10 runs on her with no issues. did a bench test everything was fine, i took her out on the water same thing about 20 yards from shore she took off and hit the other side of the pond ( 60 to 80 yards away) full throttle into some HUGE rocks and now well you can imagine

So now you tell us that - unlike the thread title specifies - the accident did not occur on the first run at all. And the model did not have the original AquaCraft UL-1 radio in it when it crashed. The Tactic radios are pretty solid and it would be almost impossible for two different radios to have the same failure. Odd.

ok semantics but it had issues from the get go, and YES i did replace the stock RTR radio with another from my miss vegas. same radio same rx i believe the problem to be with the esc honestly but doesnt matter now shes shipped off to AQ for a new one then ill sell it and get an ELAM the UL-1 has left a bad taste in my mouth

What did Hobby Services do for you. I am a new RC boat owner and I bought a UL1 because it is suppose to be a boat for beginners, I thought. Mine ran away the first time in the water and Hobby Services techs say it is impossible. What did they do for you?

Had the same problem with mine last week, I always bench check before launch. Done a length of the water then the boat all of a sudden had a mind of it's own, one minute not accelerating then leaping out of the water and trouble stopping ( bearing mind the boat wasn't far away at all). Got it out of water took it home, no water in bay, changed tx batteries, sprayed rx for moisture , charged turnigys up and went back next day with my GF. Bench checked all ok and ran boat till first set of batteries went, let everything cool, changed batteries and bench checked . I Launched boat and gave a couple of blips with throttle seemed fine, gave the tx to my GF coz she's been wanting a go. She done a couple of lengths then all of sudden the boat went mental screamed across water and hit some rocks next to us.

Luckly there wasn't too much damage, a hole in the left sponson and a gaping crack along the right side, i've spent the week fibreglassing it up and it's ready to go back out for a test, blowing a gale over here so i'll wait.

I got my UL brand new for christmas, hope theres not a dodgy batch of boats?

was the deck taped down properly? I had my tactic get a lil wet somehow and I became the passenger too, but luckily I got control back after a couple of looooooong seconds and then had her stop where she was and went after her with the rescue boat. Another thing is, these radios are sensitive to low voltage... were you running the external Rx power source with 4.8v or 6v?

the bay was bone dry and brand new batteries. Not sure what you mean with 4.8 or 6volt, my rx works from the esc and my stock tx works from AA pencils?
