    First run and question

So, today I got to go to the lake for my first run with my new UL-1! (I found one last week). I was using the stock prop for about 1 to 2 minutes and the temps were:
    motor: 120
    ESC: 102
    Batts: cool

Second run was about 2 to 3 minutes with a 40 x 57 grimracer sharpened and balenced metal prop and the temps were good except for the battery which I don't understand why they got that warm and if it is something to be concerned about.

    motor: 110
    ESC: 96
    Batts: 120

I didn't have hardly any cavitation I was on plane 99% of the time.

I'm running 2s 4000mAh 40C Zippys. They got quite warm but felt fine, cooled down fine and recharged just fine.

Besides, the battery temp question, what other sizes of lipos would be good since I want to get another set for the UL-1 that will also provide a decent runtime. I was thinking 2s 5800mAh 30C Zippys.

    Thanks!

Congratulations on the new UL-1! LiPo batteries will heat up as they discharge, and 120F is fine after three minutes. Actually anything under 130-140F is okay, but going higher can be risky.

That's good to know. Thank you. FYI I added another heatsink on the bottom of the ESC before my runs today and hooked it into the watercooling lines. It was a little small of a cooling plate but I think it helped pull some heat from the ESC.
I think I'm going to get a bigger one that covers most of the ESC and put that on to assist in the cooling of it.

So, I was wondering why does the lifter prop work so well as claimed by Grim? I got one and I can't wait to try it and see for myself but also how do the 5800mAh lipos I mentioned earlier sound in the UL-1?

i filed the front edge of the rudder to bring the water pickup hole to the very edge of the rudder..it helps get the water in there better... as claimed by Grim, and it does seem work

The 5800's mite be too tall.Take your boat to your LHS and size up some batteries. But remember the bigger the capacity the heavier the batteries and same with your boat.I run two 5000 mah batts and on the stock motor and esc with an Octura 442 can usually run about 10-12 minutes by guessing.Thats about long enough for runtime as things get a little too warm for my preference.I just put an Ammo 2300kv motor in mine and it gets it.Had to prop down though too. There are guys on here using the stock motor and esc using a Grim 40x57 3 blade going 50mph.Good luck with your ul-1.

I got up to 42 when I ran using the 40 x57 so I need to figure out how to adjust things to get to that 50mph mark. According to the stats on hobbyking it will fit just fine I believe. But 5000s might be just as good then.

The guys that run that prop use a 1" strut depth to get 50mph.I was at 45.8 with a x442.with the strut all the way up.

One thing mentioned over there was a larger diamter water cooling tube by jingalls007:
"Also it's never a bad idea to upgrade to a larger diameter silicone tubing for cooling. I did it on my UL-1 and I don't have any issues with heat and I run 10 minutes at a time.
                  "

What size would be recommended and what is stock?

Also, does that require drilling out the holes in the body of the UL-1 to prevent squeezing the tubes when they pass through to the interior?

Anyone know when the UL-1 watercooling jacket for the motor is going to be back in stock? This one:
                      http://www.offshoreelectrics.com/pro...ham-ul1-jacket

I wanna order an ESC cooling plate and that but I wanna wait until their both in so I can get them shipped together.
