    Charger setup

I have a imax b6 charger and iam running hyperion g3 2s 5000 35c batteries. What is the best way to charge these lipos. Under the balance mode or under the charge mode. I have it set on 5.0A 7.4v 2s and the last time it charge it said 2200 full charge. Should i discharge the batteries everytime. This is a hole new ballgame for me on these batteries. Any help would be great.
    Thanks for your time

Do your charge mode first, and if the pack is not fully balanced at the end of the charge, then do a balance on the pack..do not worry about discharging, that is only for NICADS

Since I still consider myself a newbie, I wanted to ask a question about charging rates. I am running two Turnigy 5000Mah @ 35-45C and in the ad for the battery it stated charging at 2C. I assumed that it ment to set your charger to 2 amps - so "mister conservative" set my Hyprion chargers to 1.9 amps. Is this correct, or am I still lost in this new FE?

Actually, 1C refers to your mAh rating. So in your case, D&D, 1C would be 5A or 5,000mAh. And 2C would be 10A etc.

Since, your battery is rated at 35C that means that it can safetly put out 35 x 5A =175A (If I did my math correctly) when it's hooked to an esc and motor.

I personally always charge mine at 1C but I've heard of others who do it at 2C without issues.

pwilli, what mappo said was correct also, but your charger should give you the option to look at what charge each cell individually holds.

You look at that to see if their balenced. For example both of the 2 cells of your 2s battery should say 4.2V when fully charged. If they all say that then they are balenced. You just want each cell to be even. It lengthens the life of the battery and gives more reliable power.

I did want to add that you actually will use the discharge mode when you want to store your batterys for an extended period of time. My charger actually has a storage and discharge mode, so depending on your charger you may have to use the discharge mode or the storage if it has it is preferred.

Usually on my hyperion, i will get a constant beep for 45 seconds which tells me my pack is fully charged and a beep that follows every 5-6 seconds to tell me that balancing is complete or i can look at the charger screen and it will tell me its balanced all cells.
don't know much about the imax charger but my guess it should do the same.
