New UL-1 owner with a issue.

I bought a UL-1 today . I installed my turnigy 2s 40c 5000 lipos. The only way they fit is all the way foward. When i tried to accelerate. The nose of the boat would go under water.So i could'nt use my new boat. what is the best way to solve this problem ?. Thank you

uhm, they all do that. let off the throttle and hammer it. it will get up on a plane. although i dont own one of these ive seen a few run now. its normal for it to do that

well you can try to adjust the strut... might help but like i said...they ALL seem to do that. my buddy leon owns a ul-1 with the same turnigy batts you have...and yess his dives like a submarine at first then gets up on a plane. so all i can say is your "issue" is normal with that boat

Naw their not too heavy, I run 2s 4000 40c's as well as 4s 3600's. I bump the throttle till it nose dives then let it bounce back, after it bounces back I hammer the throttle. When I don't feel like doing that I hand launch it. Kinda hold it on the left side of the hull and like a side arm throw straight out so it lands flat on and right when it hits on a second before nail the throttle.

My strut depth I think is set at 1 1/8th" running a s220
I just go for it, and punch it!
the nose comes out of the water and it's on plane

Strut adjustment

A cool mod to make the strut more adjustable is to cut about 1/2" or so off the end of the stuffing tube but not the teflon liner that goes inside the strut and then seal it with heat shrink then you can adjust the strut better be sure to put a little CA on the leading edge to seal it better

I got it on a plane . I used the toss & pull the trigger method .It is completly stock & hauls XXX . I taped the hatch really good. But i still got some water in the hull. Any ides ?.

Usually comes through the stuffing tube, but as I recall you said yesterday on the phone you lubed the hell outta the shaft. Check the hull where the stuffing tubes exits the hull and leads to the strut, sometimes the epoxy around their gets loose or crack, well at least it happened to mine. Glad she got on plane for ya.

try putting it in your bathtub with the hatch off to see where the water is coming in

Most three point hydros are better "launched" by throwing the boat flat onto the water...it's normally difficult for them to do a "standing" start.

You can set the boat in the water then go full throttle.Once it gets on plane you can let off the throttle to slow down if you want.If you try to take of slow, it dives down. You just have to let it eat right off the bat.Your batterys arent any prob.here.All Ul1 s do this.

You can pressure test your cooling system, some of the early versions had leaky water jackets.
If it doesn't have it already slip a piece of fuel tube over the end of the stuffing tube to stop water coming up the flexshaft, you can just slide it back when you have to undo the collet.
I cut a piece of shamwow to fit in the back to soak up spills just in case.

An odd comment considering that most FE races start with the boats dead in the water. Actually lots of 3-point hydros will jump right up on plane - it depends on the CG placement, sponson aoa and strut depth. All it takes is a little practice to get the UL-1 on step immediately. The guys in our club with them have that problem licked.....

Try your ul1 on 6s for about a 15 second blast.Its dumb because you can fry things but itll do 60mph at least with a x442 prop before it gets airborne.When ur done doing that,go back to 4s so you dont cook your stock electronics.
