New to racing.

I'm in the process of picking up a AquaCraft Motley Crue to go IMPBA racing with... I guess next season. What do I need to know rules wise for this boat? Also what do I need to know to make this boat perform at it's best..... Please talk "Stupid" :p , I'm like a total noob. Thanks.
