Third 1800kv motor dead in less than a year - what alternatives would be better?

    Nevermind,

Thought I'd lost my 3rd MC motor within the year earlier tonight (she stopped dead on the pond, and when I fished her in, she only cogged over)

Even though the motor/esc armed, it only cogged.

Turned out it was a cold solder joint on one of the motor connectors. The heat shrink was intact, but the solder between the 4mm bullet and the red wire had let go.

I got out the micro torch, resoldered it, and it seems to work. On the bench anyway.

    Happy ending here.

If this ever happens to you, check the solder on the motor connectors first thing, it's easy to fix in the field (if you carry a micro torch) and if you're racing, it could save you from missing a few heats.
