Why is the cut-off so LOW?

Just curious. My Impulse 31, as well as my AC MC both have a VERY LOW, LV cut on the ESC. I believe both stutter at 3v and then cut at 2.7. If I can, I normally set my cut off's to 3.2-3.3 on other ESC's I have. Just wondering why PB and AC chose to make the cut off's so low? Does anyone ever really hit 3v before they bring a boat in? That's just asking to puff a lipo!

I'm very careful about timing my runs with the stock esc. The Swordfish 120 esc also have a 3v cutoff level, 12v for 4s. Over the winter I'm planning on switching to t-120s, more options for timing and voltage cutoff.
If my boats upside down then who owns the one I thought I was driving the last two laps?

Probably for the simple fact that everyone that walks into a hobby shop wants the cheapest packs. Cheap lipos will drop to 3.2 or 3.3 pretty quickly.

The Swordfish can be programed from 2.5 to 3.3 volts.

Do I need the usb programmer for that? The card with the dip switches doesn't seem to offer that, just auto or cell count.
          Thanks, thats great to know!

Yes. There is a disk that comes with the esc. The instructions are on it with the complete details.
