I run around a decent sized pond in my friends backyard. He's been watching me and now has a traxxas Spartan on the way. I have a motley crew and he's already talking crap. Is there anything I can do to my mc to keep up? Any help please. I hate to neat him in his back yard but, its got to happen. Thanks for your time, jharper

try a m445 prop or a 42x55 prop the part number for the 42x55 grim racer is in your book for your boat. Then if you want to get crazy you can add and external bec to the boat like a castle 10amp and remove the red wire going into the recierver from the speedo, then you should safely be able to run 5s. And dont worry even in stock form he might get you on the straights with 6s but in the turns you will eat him alive. the doesn't really hold a candle in terms of hull design and laying down the power, not to mention you have a faster motor. Also if you want to upgrade more add the motor from the ul-1 to it. Hope that helps ask more questions about the paticular mods and I am sure we can get you going. Just watch the temps on everything, if things start going above 130, you might start needing some cooling.
Also if you read the race prep thread in this forum there is alot of good adviceComment

i am not sure about the weight, but you could try it, it might be slower but runtimes would be awesome. but if you had it over propped you could fry stuff running those big boys down. just use good common sense, sounds like you are trying to do everything right.Comment

Just because your pack is CAPABLE of a 250A discharge (5000mah x 50c/1000) does not mean that it will actually go that high. The packs don't push out the amps, they supply the amps the ESC pulls. Same with the ESC, it does not push out 60A (or whatever it's rated at), it's supplies the amps the motor pulls. The amount of amps the motor pulls is dictated by the amount of load you put on it (ie size of the prop, or overall weight it has to push with that prop).
So if your motor tries pulling more than the ESC can provide, pop goes the ESC. If your ESC tries pulling more than your packs are rated for, they will swell or pop.
As long as you are not adding a significant amount of weight with those packs, I would say run those, they will stay cooler.Comment
