Too Much Prop?

I've got an old 28 inch cat that I'm running a 3665 4500kv motor on 2s and I am currently using an Octura 642 prop with it. I've got a 646/3 blade that I am just itching to try out, but am afraid of burning up the motor and esc. Should I just go ahead and give it a try or would it be total suicide to do it?

It's not a total suicide mission, but be very cautious. I would say it depends on what the boat is running like on the 642 prop. If you get good run times, everything returns to the dock cool to the touch, and the hull isn't running wet (low) in the water, you could at least try the 3 blade out for a pass or two, then check temperatures of the motor and ESC immediately after.
