    Counter Rotation Props Configuration

I am putting together a FighterCat Cheetah and was wondering how to configure the rotation of the counter-rotating props? Should the LR prop be on the outside shaft or the inside shaft?

We run a clockwise course at our pond if that makes a difference.

My twin Cheetah runs great with inward spinning props.

Same here with my ProMarine Skater X2...port side runs clockwise, and starboard side runs counterclockwise.

Chris, so you'd say 'inward' for racing, and 'outward' for SAW? Just curious, myself, as I'm also still learning.

I checked the "Big Boys" over at Mercury Racing and they run them turning inward; CW on the port side and CCW on the starboard side.
            Thanks!

My experience has been it depends on both the hull and if you're after straight line stability or turning performance. What the full scale boats do doesn't really apply to us, the hydrodynamics are completely different... primarily because our props aren't scale sized.

On a twin you just change the leads for changing the rotation direction right?

No. To change the direction of a motor, you just swap any two wires, but then you MUST swap your flex cables and props to the opposite sides. If you don't swap your cables, you'll spin them in the wrong direction, causing them to unwind and potentially cause catastrophic damage.

Tx. I?m aware of the rotation direction for the flexshafts. They differ. For the motor direction I was curious.

Was not the intention. Following the advice to run two props inward on a rc cat, I just wanted to be sure that (with the right flexshafts and props cw/ccw) I change motor direction by swapping the leads. Am preparing myself for a twin cat for next season, that?s why I ask. Is that damaging? Sorry.

Assuming that you have flex shafts that are wound in opposite directions, another way to reverse the motor direction is to program the ESC rotation (CW or CCW).
I have my motor leads color-coded to keep the same wiring configuration in case I have to remove an ESC or motor.
