    ABC props bending

I'm having trouble with several ABC props bending the blades during running.
I don't know what alloy they are using, does any one know & if they can be heat treated. If so what temp/time.
    Thanks for any assistance.
    Eric.

what motor rpms are you doing ? are you thinning out the blades too much ? you can,t heat treat properly unless you have the correct kilm etc etc.

      Thanks for the reply rol243.
My props have minimum thinning, motor RPMs in the 33,000 to 35,000 range under load. I have access to heat treating kiln.

there has also been issues with Octura props busting off blades at high rpm,s. i would give Chris [ Dasboata ] a pm as he would be the guy to get better info from.

you are throwing blades only at 35k RPM ? jeez... makes me wonder what my hardened abc would do at 60k.

Yes you can heat treat the ABC props. I don’t have my notes handy but there is a recipe that works.

Hi Tyler, if you could PM some temps & times when you get an opportunity would be greatly appreciated.
I've got a lot of these de pitched and hi lift (ie Bent back blades) props that don't work any more and I'm reluctant to spend too much more $ on these props if they can't handle the power.
I'm happy with the speeds they produce over the Octura options, but I can't keep them from bending, some are after just 2 or 3 laps.
I was trying to keep with standard props rather than modifying them too much.
                      Thanks Eric.

Jim at ABC posted this awhile back.

Make sure the prop is clean.

Thanks for the info Doug, sounds like there is a little room for different amounts of hardness.

I wonder if this would be the same for Octura Props?
