Octura Prop size. Am I missing something here?

What is going on here?
One is an x440 the other is an x438.

It's almost like the 440 is sized wrong.

Like this? I could spin it all the way around in the caliper, it still wouldn't make it 40 millimeters. The 38 mics out at 38, why doesn't the 40 Mic out at 40?

thats octura for ya.. but most of props are that way..just run them..there is a difference

It was bugging me, so I called Octura. The x440 should be 40 millimeters... They checked some stock and found the same thing I did. A 40 millimeter prop mics out at 38. They then compared the X series to the m series and found that the M series actually mic'd out as advertised. They had no explanation other than its always been that way. They thanked me for bringing it to their attention and said that there was nothing they could really do about it, & I agree... Are they going to change 20 years of numbered props? Nope. But for bringing it to their attention, they are sending me an M440 to try free of charge. Very nice.
