Need help choosing prop for BJ 29 v3

Got a blackjack v3 for Christmas and trying to learn what I can about it
It has a 2000 kv motor and I run it on 6s from what I've read I think I want to x642
But maybe you guys can help me decide what's best

Hello & welcome to the forum.

Sometimes the experienced members of this forum forget that new users may not be familiar with R/C boating terminology.

The term "detounge" means to remove the lower section of the leading edge of a "X" prop. They are usually referred to as "M" props.

Fortunately, I have a couple pix of an "X" prop next to a "M" prop. I drew red lines through the area that gets removed.

Kintec sells a CNC aluminum "M"642 prop for $22, http://www.kintecracing.com/CNC_Machined_Props.html - scroll down bout mid-way & you'll see it - OSE doesn't have this size in they're store.

The benefit of CNC props is they don't need to be sharpened & balanced. Some like them, some don't. Here's one of numerous threads on this forum about CNC props... http://forums.offshoreelectrics.com/...props-from-ose - great low cost way to test a new setup / prop size to see how your boat runs.

Once you find what the boat likes, you can always get a sharpened & balanced Octura beryllium copper prop - bout $50.

I would say a 642 sounds small for 6's ,,,

It might be small for a typical 6S system, but this is a 2000KV, undersized for 6S sized motor, running on 6S. Smaller will let it live...

My personal opinion on running this boat on 6S aside, I think that a 1.6 pitch ratio prop will ultimately prove to be too much for this system. I'd go with an X442 or an X440/3, or perhaps the standard ABC 42x55. Keep an eye on the connector temps. You are going to find that the contacts get pretty warm.

I'm going to try a s&B X640 ON mine it has almost the same total pitch as stock or Prather 215 of course checking temps.consider x642 because had one but after talking to Darin, going to try the x640.s smaller diameter.

Can someone help find what plastic ones would match those specs

Have not run boat yet, lakes and ponds are frozen report in spring. Darin told me that a x642 Is to big for that boat.

If I am not mistaken, the carbon filled "K" series props have 1.4 pitch. i.e. x440 or x442s.

I have a v3 and have the strut set I believe as close to perfect with batteries set and I'm running a m445 and it screams the motor gets hot but got a spare. Need something to check speed what is out there for that? I'm running 6s those heavy hard case 5700's

What is your strut settings and battery placement and temps? I use a hand held GPS .

Ran my blackjack 29 on 6s with a dasbota b/s x640 octura boat was fast and stable strut was 1/8 in up was vary fast and stable, way better then my mystic 29 !
