Sharpen and balance propeller - what can I expect?

I have an Impulse boat running on 6S with a 2150 KV Leopard 4074 motor and 442 propeller. I have not balanced or sharpened the propeller. How much more speed and/or increased battery life can I expect by balancing and sharpening the propeller?

You can expect better life out of the whole set-up. You are going to ruin your strut and send vibrations up the flex shaft and hurt the motor.
A few more MPH maybe but it's just what your supposed to do. Kind of like a wheel on your car. They just need to be balanced.

A 2150kv motor on 6S with an unbalanced prop is something dangerous that you MUST avoid from now on! If you have ran your boat this way with no damages you're lucky! All boat propellors must be carefully balanced and sharpened so if your not able to this task there are people here to help you.Gill

Ok, I get the point! :-D

I have never done it before, but I have seen that there are plenty of guides around. Is there a particular recommended guide that I should use?

simply said :this is madness for that boat
now way in hell that this is going to end well

for starters i would check my bushings and hope that i didn't run that combo to long so they suvived this torture
next i would check all the nuts and screws , still in place?

next step would be running 4s and buying some cnc props and read some usefull info on the net or ask some questions before spending my money or destroying my stuff

            sorry for the sarcasme

Do you by any chance sell pre-balanced and sharpened propellers? It could be interesting to test the difference with a perfectly balanced and sharpened prop before doing it myself.

Chris will hook you up, he does nice work plus he has the equipment to do the job safely. The berrylium dust from sanding/grinding/cutting on non CNC or stainless props is quite toxic.

This was perfect timing. Was just asking about a prop and balancing on my Dumas deepvee over in the build forum.

                        Don.
Don't be lulled into a false sense of security with stainless steel props.
Have a good read of this guys.
