    Prop for rescue boat?

    Hi all,

Im fairly new to this hobby so i may have a lot of dumb questions.

I built myself a PVC rescue boat, i used a tupperwear container for the "body" and the typical PVC rescue horseshoe style. I used the hardware from my Revolt that i destroyed. I am using a proboat 1500kv motor and esc from the blackjack 26 i bought along with a 2.4 radio system. It seems to work really well and seems reliable. My question to you is, what is a good prop to use for it? Right now i am using an grim racer 42*55 and it seems to work im just worried about torque when pushing a boat full of water.

    heres a pic

    thanks!

Is the prop fully submerged? That is a pretty small prop to effectively move with a boat on the hook. A motor with a lower Kv or running on 2S (which the ESC won't do) with a bigger prop would work better. With your current setup you could try a plastic Octura 1240 or 1245 prop. But full throttle will stress the motor and ESC pushing a load. Those props do not work well unless running submerged, but then a slow boat with a surfacing prop is a bad idea.

      thanks for the reply,

To answer your questions, it does seem to run fine on 2s, however i do have some higher KV motors i can install if need be.

The prop is completely submerged with my setup, probably about 3 inches underwater.

So i guess my question stands wiht some additional information. Yes the prop is fully submerged, and yes i am running 2s. Any other ideas?

      thanks
      Steve

If it is 3/16 shaft I have a 2 " diameter 2" pitch 3 blade I will give you for $15 shipped it is a older octura scale looking prop it has nice blade area which will make it good for towing and pushing

This is exactly what ive been thinking about building as a recovery device. Looks good. Can you share a little more on it? What did you use for drive hardware and such? Thx

I obviously used PVC and tupperwear to build the "vessel" foe hardware its the hardware I had left over from my crashed revolt 30

O wow! Thanks for the helpful reply. I could not tell you used pvc and a tupperware container even tho you stated it in your post. Such a dummy I am. Once again, thanks for the great help!
