Hello there, I am getting things together to start a new boat build. The boat is a 51" deep v mono. I will be using a 820kv TP motor 6y configuration. I am planning on running up to 12s on it. The motor is rated to 50000rpm. 12s would give me just under 35000rpm. I have the swordfish 300amp esc to handle the current. According to TP Max amp draw is 156a. This boat is over double the size of anything I have now. I am wondering what would be a good prop size to run. Please let me know if I am out to lunch on my assumption of being able to run between what I have stated above. I was thinking 8wof would be good for most of time, its a big lake and gets very rough. So I guess its a two part question. What would be a good prop size on 8sthe and what would be a good size to run (if it can be done) on 12s. I have uses the prop chart calculator but I believe your personal experience will give me a much more realistic. Idea of what I should be looking at. Thanks for your help! Jeffm
Starting a new build soon, i need help with prop selection please!

That motor will be too high a Kv for a boat that size if you want decent run time and prop efficiency. A boat that large will run better with props from 60-65mm in diameter - or more - and a loaded 32-33,000 rpm (not 35,000) will probably need a smaller prop. Too, what is the size of the motor as not all 820 Kv motors will pull the same prop. You may be better off to run 8S or 10S and a larger prop, or choose a motor with a lower Kv. If all you want is a few SAW passes then 12S may work okay.
On 8S an x465 may work okay to start. On 12S start with an x455 just in case. A lot will depend on the hull design, weight and how freely you have it set up, so take these recomendations as generalities only.
