    Props for smaller boats

Hey guys just bought a 17" miss geico and was wondering if there are better props other then the stock plastic one to try out. The plastic one looks like it will move it good but want something that will be able to handle the brushless setup I have planned for it better.

I have been searching but no luck and no idea what I am looking for!

380 motor isn't much. Do a search for a brushless motor and a carbon fiber prop with a 6 pitch in the 31mm size area. My guess is 2040 3700kv would be close on 2S in the lipo size of 3000maH. Offshore, here, has the props. Motor Leopard 2550 on 3S isn't to tacky either. I have 22" mono with a Leopard 2550 on 3S and it flies. I do think my first thought on 2040-3700 in a 17" would be more stable on dual lipos for weight and balance.

Sweet will do that. I was looking at a 2040 4900kv motor or a 2848 3900kv but not sure which one to go with yet. I will searh for that carbon fiber prop

Depending on the shaft size check out some suppliers in Europe, small prop high rpm setups are a lot more common for some of their styles of racing.
If my boats upside down then who owns the one I thought I was driving the last two laps?

Here in England (and in several other countries worldwide) we have mini classes for monos and hydros with a maximum hull length of 450mm (17.75"), I am now running a cut down JAE Minisprint in the MiniHydro class but for several years I ran cats in the 17-17.5 range, my preferred motors for these are Mega 16/15 series, 6 pole 28x37mm motors, i run the 3 turn 3000kv on 3s and the 2 turn 4600kv on 2s, both spinning a detongued and backcut Octura X427 to get the 5 minutes runtime on a 110g LiPo, which for me was a 2100mAh 2s and a 1500mAh 3s, both motors run this setup cold when watercooled so there is plenty of room to prop up if you don't need 5 minute runs or for bigger batterys if you want more runtime, I occasionally ran one of the cats with a 3200mAh 3s LiPo and a stock X431 for about 7 minutes of greater speed and the motor temperature was fine, I have also tried a detongued V935 which is a bit of a SAWS setup so I didn't get runtimes on it, but the motors span it fine, and weren't too hot after a few passes, MY 35A ESC however was rather hot so I didn't make a habit of it.

From what I have seen the leopard 24mm motors are well up to the task too, and a little lighter than the Megas (assuming you watercool cool the Megas, (which I will try not doing next year to save weight)), from what I have seen of those that tried 20mm motors, most ran very hot and got swapped for something bigger within a season, the little ETTI outrunner seems to be the smallest motor that is up to the task.

What is your shaft format? I run a 1/8" dog drive for the Octura props which are 27mm+ but others use a 4mm threaded shaft for Graupner CRP props 29mm+ or a 2mm thread for Graupner CRP props under 29mm. The shaft you run, and the runtime you want and battery you want to do it with will dictate the KV of the motor you need.

Wow thanks for that really good info. I am not sure what the shaft format is. Its all stock and haven't really torn into the boat yet.I will really get into the boat after christmas.

Normally PB sells SS "hop-up" props for they're boats, check MG 24 as an example. I'm at they're site and can't find info on the factory prop for your boat, don't know what's up, maybe give cust serv a call and see if they can get you going in the right direction.
