    UL-1 Prop

I am currently running a 42x55 grimracer and am looking for more speed as there is more room for propping up due to low electronics temperatures. I have run a m445 which the boat does not seem to like, a 40x57 3 blade which works but is difficult to get on plane and has similar speed and handling characteristics of the 42x55. Anyone have any suggestions on what to try next? I am thinking of trying an abc h4, prather s220, or a grimracer 42x66. Let me know what you think.

The H4 has fairly aggresive pitch watch your temps ... also why didnt the boat like the M445? where was your strut, angle, cog etc.

        James,

I am pretty sure they are the same prop... The Grim 45X68 is the same as the ABC H5

Here is an ABC Prop Chart

        Later,
        Mike

I have done a lot of changes since last running the m445, but it was very walky and had high temps. I may try it again sometimes but i feel i would have to run the strut very low with some negative angle. With smaller props it seems to be much more stable. Thats why i am looking for something in the 42mm range just to experiment with. My ul-1 is also highly modified so the strut position and angle is probably not comparable to other ul-1s.

I can imagine my motor exploding already. What water pickup?

The simple x442 is allways overlooked. I like them sharp and thin. Try adding a little more cup at tips for greater speeds

Cup: I have my own very simple way of doing this. Others would probably laugh, but it works. No stupid special pliars, no ball anvil. All I use is a regular pair of pliars.

I never had any problem getting mine to plane on l40/57/3. Thing was a rocket too...
How are your prop sharpening skills anyways?

That prop is very difficult and time consuming to sharpen, but it is a good prop. To sharpen I use a strong pair of Walmart #3 reading glasses and take my time. Small course and medium files then polish with dremel.
