how close can twin propellers v boat 54" be?? and what is better close or away from each other??

Ken Joye built a Drifter L with twin brushed 800 motors. Motors wereside by side on top of the tunnel, maybe an inch between motors.
Having the props close together allowed him to use left only turning props without severe torque problems.
Give him a shout, my pics are stashed way away of that build.
