After smoking two lousy 2040's and getting the driveline to run free and smooth by getting the teflon to stay away from the prop shaft, I installed a Turnigy 2836-3200 and a x427.
The motor just barely fits the stock mount, but I had to slightly enlarge the two side holes in the mount. I also cut around 1/8" off of the shaft, then put a flat spot on it.
I reused the stock coupler by drilling out the 2.3mm end with a 1/8 bit. I went through the 1/8 inch end first using it as a alignment guide.
I use a 30a Seaking and 3s 2200 Gensace.
It runs fast and cool, really good run times, minimal torque roll with the small prop, and its a whole lotta fun, even in light wind chop.
After a lot of running and several wipeouts the mount finally popped loose from the hull. I'm thinking about switching to one with a water-cooled base if I can find a good, small mount option...?
