    Motor and prop question

    Ohoi there!

I have been upgrading my sons little balaenoptera musculus toy boat with some new hardware. I bought this cheap ebay sea monster 2845 2700kv motor which i ran on 4s with a 32mm propeller. The boat went crazy fast, but just when i started to be able to control it after some adjustments, the motor burned.

Now, i wasn't expecting much from the motor, and certainly not that much speed and i have bought a leopard 2860 2730kv motor thinking it will hold a little longer. Am i right? and do you think it will be able to turn a octura 1930 prop (30mm 1.9 pitch)?

    Thanks

The 1930 prop is a high lift hydro prop, not really suited to mono v hulls. your better using an x series prop.

The Leopard should hold out out much better than the sea monster motor, just watch the temps every minute or so on your first runs.

Sea monster is a very, very inexpensive 2 pole motor while the Leo is a 4 pole with longer rotor to dissipate the heat better. It (Leo) will need a water jacket.

Thank you, but i'm good. I've bought a bunch of plastic props so i can try different sizes and shapes and hopefully i will learn something:)

Also, i find this extremely addictive so i ended up ordering one of those Tfl Rocket boats. I don't know why but it seemed like good place to start. I haven't been interested in RC toys since i was i little boy, before i bought my son this Musculus boat so we could get some more variation to the outdoor activities and now i am hooked.

i had a leo 2860 2910kv in a higly moded thunder tiger outlaw jr (kids and I loved it, sad thing i sold it)
3s : 38 mm cnc prop got ,barely warm

would not use the 2700 on 4s in a mono for boating around;you would need very small props (would have bought a lower kv motor if you wanted 4s)
better/more effective to use 3s and a lager prop

it's not so difficult to remove one cell from your 4s lipo's , just have to buy another balancerconnector and half an hour work will do the trick

Thanks for the heads up! Hull looks great, and i've tested it with the stock motor and i handles great. At least in comparison to the musculus:) I am a newbie after all. I'm going to upgrade the motor to a TP Power 3630 2100kv (on 4s), but not sure what prop i will be using. I am thinking maybe a 38mm, but i'm open for suggestions. Don't want to ruin a expensive motor over my greed for speed I'm guessing i have to replace the stock ESC too. The motor specs says max 65amp and my ESC is 70amp.
