Another "which one to get?" thread..

I have been searching and reading to the point where my eyeballs are popping out lol. I am looking for a mini to just abuse- wave jump, run in water way too rough for it's size, flip, crash, etc. I have a Centurion and it is a blast on smooth water but I really want something self righting for taking to the beach with the kids and such. I am very interested in the Barbwire but thought I read somewhere it was fiberglass and now I am seeing it is plastic. Which is it? Plastic just always seems cheap and toyish to me, but if the boat performs as advertised, I can get past that. I am currently looking at the Minicat Eco, Barbwire and various Joysway boats I have seen listed. Also, have some interest in the HOR 25" self righting mono but can't seem to find a lot about it and shipping seems to be a bit much ($63 from HOR).

I know opinions are just that, but I would like some opinions and info on the various self righting minis- which is faster, which is more fun, which are fiberglass, etc.. I'm thinking the Barbwire will be the one, even if it is plastic, but if there are others that are better, let me hear it! I am looking to spend under $300. Thanks.

Do you have a radio already? If so, or if you are prepared to go cheap with one, you should be able to buy and fit out an carbon/kevlar ETTI Mini Envoy for $300 which will be streets ahead of any of the RTRs.

In the US south river rc boats stock Etti, but they don't list the Mini Envoy only the Etti mini EFT which is the fore runner to the Mini Envoy. Still a good little boat with self righting & the same size as the Envoy or you could go to www.etti.com.hk where they have all the Etti stuff. Astec Models in the UK also have the Mini Envoy hulls.

The Mini EFT is nowhere near as good as the Mini Envoy Link its listed as Kevlar, but the hull is carbon/kevlar and the deck is glass so it is rigid where it needs to be but you can still use an internal aerial.

The AquaCraft Reef Racer is a great boat for kids. Add some horse power and it's fun for everyone.

Oh well, thanks for all the info guys but the Barbwire won, I ordered one last night. The price and being RTR made me go this route right now. I just want something to abuse and from the vids I have seen, this should fit the bill just fine :). For the price, it is pretty much a throwaway- which means it's in for some serious abuse :D.. However, thanks to the posts here, I have now added the Etti to my "to build" list as well lol. Looks like a cool little boat. Thanks again.
