    Painting an Atomik Barbwire?

    Hi guys,
I have a Barbwire coming in the mail. I was wanting to know what kind of paint should I use to paint it? Im assuming its a plastic hull as the price reflects. I dont want it to look cheap/bad after I paint also... I want it to look quality. Im trying to go for super bright hot pink.(its a gift for my girlfriend/her first boat)
    Thanks!

I'd go with a model car paint like Pactra or Tamya..

have you painted a boat with these brands before? I was hoping there was a non hobby related paint I could use that would look good. Tamiya paint is expensive for so little

I would just put pretty stickers on it for her. I'm sure you can find hello kitty stickers somewhere

Painting plastic can be tricky. You need to clean with soap and water and scuff it with scotch bright lightly.
If you can find the color you want in a direct to plastic formula paint, go for it. Other wise, get a plastic adhesion promotor like bulldog. You can find it at automotive paint supply or I'm sure autozone. I always avoid primer when possible. It just adds a layer that can fail.

That said, you may have to pay good money, because the color you want, is not exactly "popular". So your options may be limited to what is available. Then you're at the mercy of the asking price

Painting plastic is extremely easy because of krylon fusion. Scuff it up with like 320 grit and spray on the fusion paint, follow the directions on the can. After painting let it sit for a week, then wet sand with 600-800 and use the krylon fusion clear coat. I have painted a lot of boats with rattle cans, some people can't believe its not gelcoat after wet sanding/clear.

Heaving Earth listed bull dog which is a really good adhesion promoter but with fusion paint the paint will form a molecular bond with the plastic, that's what makes this paint special for the $.

If you are just going with a single base color, and then stickering it, I would opt for the Krylon Fusion paint as well. Prep the surface as described above, wipe down well, then paint. Following the recoating directions PRECISELY, however... It goes on nicely and holds up well. The color, as has been stated, may be tough to come by, but if you can find something to you liking, the Fusion is really good over plastic for a bomb-can paint.

Im probably going to go with the gloss fairytale pink mentioned above from krylon fusion.

Yeah prolly your best bet. If you want it brighter you could put a bright red or orange down first.
