    Miss Geico 17" build

Alright, instead of taking over zacks thread I decided to make my own.. We all know that the stock set up is junk!! That set up went in the trash as did the straight drive! I have the stock mini mono set up in it and flex shaft deal. I came across the DIY thread so I ordered a .098 flex shaft with the bigger 3/16 tubing and coupler that will be going on this boat. I also ordered a new strut and rudder assembly and a water cooled motor mount (since it's a out runner motor)

After I cut the shaft out..

Mini mono shaft installed (will be changing it out to 3/16 and a strut)

    MM setup..

I will be updating with pictures as soon as I receive the parts (hopefully Thursday)
This is my first time doing something like this so for you guys who think you can't do it.. You can, it's very easy! Any tips or tricks will be appreciated!

My tips would be this, having a strut to hold the stuffing tube is a good idea, also offsetting the rudder would probably help.

Yup, strut is a must.. I didnt have an extra one to use when I did this, but I've already ordered it! As far as the offset rudder... I really like the way an inline handles but I think I might have to offset it dude to clearance with the strut/rudder that I ordered.

        What's up Gabe?

Now I'm watching your's and Zacks build. What speed are you trying to get this 17 to?

Got some progress done... Strut and rudder are mounted. Built the flex shaft and got the flex tube where I want it, just have to epoxie it in now...

With the new strut, the prop is set pretty far back... Is that a bad thing?!

Still got to install the motor mount

I also didn't realize how much shorter the new rudder is... It should work fine though

Haha. Yeah my sons submarined and didn't come up for a bit. I wasn't sure if it was stuck to the bottom. The boat is perfect how I comes but I still got an octura prop for it and I think I'm going to attach a piece of styrofoam to the lid. But it's a fun boat

Got the flex tube epoxied in... Doesn't look pretty but it'll work.

Got the motor aligned and epoxied in also..

I also moved the rudder as far down as I could to get it a little more in the water. I should be finished tonight with this thing.

She is done. First pool test was disappointing. Had a 30mm prop on it(stock size on the mini mono) and it cavitated like crazy. It was slower than the stock electrics lol

I figured the strut was too high(it's set as low as it can go) so I figured I'd have to redo the flex shaft. I put a plastic octura 34mm on it and that fixed it. It jumps out of the hole now! She'll have her maiden voyage at the lake hopefully tomorrow.

I also forgot to mention that I bought hobby people plane servos that I'm running in this and my barbwire. $16 and they are incredibly quick! Makes it super fun to drive!

Looks great and I have to say that it takes determination to mod these boats which is what I don't have so to you.
What paint did you use on that Duratrax stand, looks like a good match for the hull paint, wonder if it matches the MG V1 ?
Too many boats, not enough time...

it was more work doing research on what i needed than actually building it lol. I tested it in the pool again thankfully and the esc caught on fire.... too big of a prop for it! so ill end up ordering a seaking 35 pretty soon.

that stand is for my rc cars.. it came in that color. ill have to check and see what brand it is, i dont think its duratrax
