Buying a mini and need help.

Hey all,
Decided to get back into boating on a smaller scale. In doing some searching I found an Atomic Barbwire 16" brushless for $169. Anyone hear of this oar or should I stick with a proboat or aquacraft mini? And is aquacraft or proboat, what is the best performer in the mini line. Thx, Don.

I don't know how much it costs in the US, but have a look at the Joysway Offshore Warrior (NOT the lite version) Over here in the UK it is excellent value and a pretty amazing performer.

To get back in to boating , start with a 2S cell for very rapid performance. The 3S recommended by the maker makes it supersonic!

The Barbwire if not a clone is similar to the Joysway Super Mono X which I did own at one time. A lot of fun and they self right. No additional equipment is needed to run including battery and charger. The offshore warrior mentioned is even better performance-wise but you will need a radio and batteries. The offshore warrior is also made of fiberglass albeit very thin. The other two are plastic but seem to be stronger. I've had a puncture on my warrior's hull but was easy to repair with epoxy. I had no idea it was punctured but it kept filling up with water. I would bring it in, drain it and throw it back in. Very resilient little boat.

One of the suggested boats was sold in the Uk as a Joysway product. The same comments apply to this as the Offshore Warrior. It has an interesting running property. It starts off and accelerates to high speed then seems to change gear and go even faster with very little if any extra throttle. Hard to describe but possible to see it in Joysway advertising video

Try minicat racing. Their Eco is a great little boat on 2 or 3s it also has a flood chamber so it will roll back over.

What speeds do those mini cats run that you posted links for? I bought my son a barbwire which runs great and is quick. Best of all it self rites so dad doesn't have to go swimming. So that's the only mini I've run I'm curious how they compare in performance

I haven't run one of the cats, I'm a mono man, but a couple of blogs that I've looked up for this reckon that on a 3S set up they will do about 35mph. I think that may be a bit hopeful but the Youtube link above shows what they can do out of the box. Lots of people also "improve" them; I think that "Martin" had a build blog on this forum under the mini section a while ago. I have an offshore warrior mono which I am still playing with in standard format. Joysway say to use 3S for this but it is a bit frisky at that and 2S makes it more comfortable to use until you get it dialled in. 3S is definitely " whoo look out" territory.

Thanks. I will check out that blog. Like I said my barbwire is for my son. I prefer cats myself but the barbwire runs great 25-30mph and its fairly in destructible, but important it self rites. These minis are cool. I almost bought a magic cat after seeing some YouTube vids of some hopped up ones but that boat was discontinued. Since I've had my eye on them I haven't seen a better bang for your buck than the barbwire but I'm still learning
