    Centurion Minni Cat

    Hi guys n gals,
Has anyone on here had a play with one of these hulls performance wise??
I've been trying different setups in mine, and I'm currently running a HK donkey motor which is a upgrade in both physical size, and KV from 3000 to 4200kv. I'm still using a 30A ESC which seems to be up to it so far, It gets a little hot so Ive got a 50A on the way. Ive got a HK alloy CNC 32mm prop on it which I'm liking so far.

I am yet to measure the top speed but I will carefully estimate 80km/h. Way way way faster than the stock motor, punch the throttle and it explodes in a mist of white water and noise as it disappears over the lake. Much fun!!!!

It took a bit of stuffing around to get the motor mounted and I had to order a water jacket to suit, but at the end of the day pretty darn easy and very much worth it!!

I'll get some video up in the next few days.

I have one and its great fun to drive, once you get the CG right. I didn't really think about upgrading it as I think it runs pretty well stock, I run a 32mm back-cut prop. I am interested to see what motor you put in it and a run video though, might have to upgrade after all. Mine is currently getting a new look.

I saw your thread, it looks awesome man!
Im running a similar prop, with this motor upgrade Id say by eye its almost twice the speed, though I had to make a collar to go around the bearing carrier at the front of the motor so I could flush mount it. I used 2 washers that I cut up as needed with my dremal and they work fine (took me 5mins). I had to get a 380 size cooling jacket, I recommend the silicone one from kintec as its a tight fit and the plyability of the silicone is useful when fitting everything back in. Also I recommend using a 50amp ESC.

I need something to do today so I'll get some pictures and if I get to the water, I will take my camera and get some footage and put it all up in this thread (it doesent warrant a build thread). I haven't seen any on youtube that have been modded and I understand why, they are very much a toy boat, but lots of fun none the less!!

      bikergreen:
Are you still running the stock ESC?
Have you needed to replace the flex and drive shaft yet? If so where did you get one?
Does yours leak much water? (mine leaks like a siv)

That looks like a good little motor - Mine is totally stock, the only thing that bugs me is the collet. It doesn't sit totally strait when its screwed down and causes vibration and noise. I could see wanting to upgrade the flex drive along with motor and collet for a wicked set up.

Mine doesn't leak, I put lots of grease in the strut and tape the hatch and hole for the antenna as I don't use it. Good to get it sealed as I flip it all the time lol. I don't know if I need it faster though as I almost never have glass flat water to run in.

Maybe at some point one of us will do this:

Might require a new stuffing tube

Ive ordered a compression coupling for mine I've only had too replace the flex drive twice so far, from damage caused by running it in reverse (was at 25% to get unstuck from the weeds on the opposite bank of the river). Ive since disabled reverse and drive more carefully.

I had a lot of problems with mine being upside down when I go it, not so much now, but you do have to be careful. I was running mine in pretty much the same conditions as the video below. The boat is 100% factory issue in the video, battery is 3s 2650mah 30c

Imagine 2x2s 2200mah 550 size heli batteries in series (4s), they would fit in it and be great balance as could fit in the front of each sponson..... the rudder is obviously already side mounted so with the bigger shaft and hardware could maybe go up to a 38-40mm prop!!
I think you could possibly make one of these do over 60mph........ (seriously thinking about trying it)

I'll probably wait until I break something to start up grading, I do like how it has bearings in the strut already. Maybe you can just use the OSE flex in the stock strut with the bearings. My boat already sits low in the water.. 4s would be nuts! but funny to try lol.

I'm on my second flex/drive shaft and now 3rd ESC (will be upgrading to 50A this time).
Ive got too many projects on the go right now, Once I get the 50A ESC, get the genesis running over 62mph, upgrade the rx7 to BL and upgrade driveline/suspension accordingly, finish off my new 31inch outrigger.
Then I will look at going silly on this thing, the 550 size heli bats are really small and light they will fit in the nose of each sponson, but might ruin the COG completely, my mates got a few laying around I can try.
I can see this little boat being heaps of fun, when I get the new ESC I will shoot some footage of how it is now and throw some pictures in this thread of the upgrades. Might even put my GPS in it, but it adds a fair bit of weight.

ya sounds good - I will be swapping out my ESC also as I have one coming and will use the 30A one in the jet boat I'm building. I never put my GPS in mine last summer. I will when its running again, my GPS is really small. Can't wait to decal up and do the final clear coat on my hull!

                          Nice one!
HK have just got spare flex drives in stock, I suggest you grab at least one spare, it took 4mths for these to come back into stock.
