Hello to all as Im new to this forum. I have been into rc for 17 years but am new to boats. I bought my 11 yo son 2 boats for his b day last Mar. . He is a speed freak which I would say is my doing lol. The ul-1 ( instead of Spartan , thank god) I bought he loved but the mini alligator tours airboat was a dud for speed. So for a quick solution I put a traxxas vxl-3 motor and esc in it. I have no issues running it on 12nimh cells wired in series but when I just switched it to lipos this past week (1) 11.1v 1500mah dynamite pack the esc goes into a low voltage cutoff. This happens when Im wot for more than 2 or 3 secs the green light on esc switches to red and Im down to 50 percent power until I rearm esc. Does anyone have any ideas on whats up. Im wondering if its because this setup prob isnt designed for direct drive on lipos at least. Also there has been no overheating issues. Thxs for any response.

Is the LVC set correctly for 3s? What prop is on the motor? It might be that the battery can't supply enough current and that's why the voltage is dropping.Light travels faster than sound, so people may appear to be bright until you hear them speak. -
Good call Tim I plugged in a 11.1v 5050mah 35c pack and no problems except it dosent fit. I wonder if I make a 2cell pack from the 3cell pack I have if it will have the same issues because I dont have a pack that will fit with a higher C . The pack I will try this with is a dynamite 25c 3cell 1500mah. What do you think? That little boat is almost outta control anyway running on 3Comment
