Small self-righting boats?

I currently have a sv27 that I take to the lake when we go out on our family boat. That boat doesn't seem to be well suited for a large lake the waves are just too large for it. Since I don't have room for a larger r/c boat I was thinking about trying one of the small self-righting starter boats.

Do you guys think this is a good approach? Any recommendations?

My wife just purchased a velocity mono for me from minicatracingusa.com, the owner is a member here and is offereing discounts to ose members. It doesnt have a flood chamber but does self right. I wanted a road trip boat I could keep in the car and wouldn't need a rescue rig and not take up much room. Haven't ran it yet, but looks awesome.

Suckmywake has a self righting SV in the swap shop for a good price.The boat is built like a tank for punishment and the self righting works awsome.RTR.

Did you watch the video on the website? Not sure how rough you need, but I have read they handle chop pretty well. Like I said not sure how rough you need it to handle. Where at in NC are you located?

I'm in Cary. I've been playing with the boat at Lake Jordan, and it get's fairly rough there. Much rougher than in that video.

U might need like a DF33 copy like a Pursuit artr. Pursuits can handle some pretty rough water. http://kintecracing.com/Pursuit.html i LOVE my pursuit. Look up youtube videos of df33 or delta force 33, the copies handle pretty damn good!

Due to space in the Family boat I was looking for something a little smaller than 27" to replace the sv27. After looking at suckmywakes forsale ad, I may reconsider and try putting a little more effort in making the sv27 work out.

I do like the mini cats, but, I would have to sell the sv before buying one of those.

The DF26s handle better then the sv's and are just slightly smaller and will out perform. Youtube search df26 or delta force 26s, here's a copy http://kintecracing.com/Prince_Upgrades.html, take the motor esc and radio out of you sv stick it in this and you should have a nice running boat. I run the same / simular boat to the Velocity,Here in the UK its a Joysway Warrior. Very slight differences in as much as that the Velocity uses the all alloy rudder & strut assembly compared with mine that has a mixture of alloy/plastic brackets. These really are fantastic little boats for their size acheiving 30-35mph stock on the right prop and very entertaining considering their size. These are the only type of boats that i run now & have done a lot of work on trimming the hulls & working on the self righting so it works 100% every time. They rely on offset weight to self right with mainly the lipo set to one side, However i found this isnt enough offset weight to do this, It also depends on lipo weight as not all lipos are the same weight even if their the same voltage & mah. I use 3s 2200 mah & weight varys from 165grams - 205grams depending on make & found that i had to add additional weights of around a further 50-60grams i know this as in the early days i had to retreive the boat from being upside more times than that. In the end i modyfied the hatch with a raised air tight bubble shape offset to one side to aid self righting & reduce the added weights. Now its like a cork it rights so quick i dont even realise its gone over half the time as i dont even have to close the throttle is so fast righting.Fantastic boats for the money also consider their Mini Eco boat as well, Another very good self righting little boat. I should also point out that as with any self righting boat be it done with offset weight or flood chamber you still have to work on most of these self righters for them to self right. Even the ones with flood chambers you have to add weights normally stuck inside the flood chamder wall or on top of the deck. Thats why model shops stock these self adesive weights for balancing aircraft & boats. Martin.

If you have the dollars the Toysport Synchron is the best of the bunch I have tried so far. It will fly on a SV set up and it turns like it is on rails. The other boats I have tried or owned are the Arowana(did it with a 2s for my son and I) not as fast as a SV, but fun. I have a Toysport Tritan, probably too big for what you are looking for. There is one I have not tried that I am curious about. Let me find the link...

Here is the the one that looked like a good fit for SV size internals. There is only one problem, I ordered this boat and they sent me one WITHOUT a flood chamber! Never got the right one or any response at all. grrrrr

I think there is a huge untapped market for a sport boat that is SV sized and self-righting for the right price. Lot's of people don't want to deal with fipped boats..

I second that. I run the syncron, it is pretty darn nice, but it isn't all that small (29"), and it isn't cheap...
