About 20 years ago when I was 13 yrs old, I worked with my dad to build a Graupner Arrow with the 505 drive and twin LeMans. It runs on two 7 cell 8.4v 1200 mah battery packs. It also has a Futaba Attack-R radio.
Now fast forward those 20 years and I have two kids myself and my own wallet. I dug the Arrow out of my closet at my parents and thought I would give it some life. Never satisfied with the stock speed, I was wondering if the current setup is worth upgrading to a brushless motor and ESC? I would like to utilize the current drive so let that be the constraining factor otherwise I would keep the Arrow as is and start a new project with the kids.
Can I get this boat hit the 30mph range with decent, 5+ minute run time? Lastly, is the radio's range still decent or are the new radios double or even triple the range.
All the best and thanks for viewing.
