    BlackJack Gets Upgraded

    Guys;

My Blackjack runs great on 12 cells, runs fast on 14 cells( just don't ask it to turn to sharply). As I just ordered a Hydra 120 to replace my SV-27 speed control that went up in a spectacular fire and smoke display on the weekend, the SV controller in my Blackjack will be moved to the SV-27 and the Hydra will go into the Blackjack, along with my 5S 5000 mAh Lipos!

    This should have several results,

    1) Crazy speeds in a straightline
    2) Even larger turns will be required
    3) The SV motor in the Blackjack will be put to the test, its rated to 18V , so it should be interesting to see how long it lasts !
    4) The Proboat outdrive will be stressed test to the max !
    5) More time will be spent in its resting position ( on its back) then ever before

Why do we do this to ourselves ?!?!?

Hey how about a front air difuser to keep the nose down??? I am thinking a one inch dolefin on the od. Maybe even turn the edges up @ a 90 for some additional turn fin afect.

Make certain that you use a smaller prop for the first few runs. The additional voltage will cause a large increase in amp draw that can overstress your components. Don't worry, the additional voltage will still give you high speeds.
What prop were you planning on using?

If I may get off topic for a sec.. Do any of you know if someone has tested active air control surfaces on rc hydros or cats to try and counter blow offs and stability????

I'll be running a SV nitro prop, I have a few sitting around.
They are about 2mm smaller in diameter.:)

I suspect that any active stability system would have to be a automated(onboard) one else the responce lag would make it ineffective or even make it worse.
Still waiting for my boat to come in.it came in

Gyros from helicopters have been tried several times with hydros and tunnels, and they just do not work. They are not fast enough to stop a blowover, partly because they have to be set so that a normal "bump" does not cause the control surface to "dive" the boat. Not that it cannot be made to work, but it has not so far.

I wondered If you could please tell me where the C of G is mearsured from the rear of the sponson forward as you have your 29 Blackjack's running nice and flat without bouncing its nose up and down (porpoising). I have not run the boat yet and must say am worried about all I have read today on the subject of things burning out and weather to use 2 or 3s lipo as the shop said
3s so I purchased 6 of those but now the consensous seems to be run 2s or all hell is going to break loose. I think I may get a couple of 2s 5600 mah and keep the 3s for my heli. What prop would you recomend.

                            Kind Regards Don.
