32" Delta Force copy quest for more speed!

I have one of those Head of the River 32” mono's, which I’ve been running for fun over the last couple of months, on 4s1p (2xpolyRC 25c 5100), an 8xl and a Hydra 120. It’s a great handling boat compared to my old Supervee, much more stable and doesn’t have that tendency to want to fly all the time.

Anyway, on an X642, I get a speed of 44mph on GPS, with spikes on the logger of 118amps. Everything runs fairly cool but even running loose it gets kind of boring at this speed.

On an M445 things get much more exciting, and speeds are up into the early 50’s, although during the brief test that I did with this prop, the logger was showing spikes at 158amps – whoops..(I’m totally amazed I didn’t fry the esc!!!) , everything got extremely hot in about 2 mins of running and a solder joint melted on the logger!!

I really want to get some more speed out of this thing without risking frying the electronics, and I was thinking perhaps an 8xl is a little too hot? Could I be better off with a 9xl which may allow a larger prop? Also a larger esc – I was thinking about an ETTI 150 race (apparently these will handle a burst of 300amps?). The hull is quite a weighty layup compared to my old SV.

If money was no object, would a 6s1p setup be better for this hull? What would be the best motor/esc setup to get this boat in the late 50’s early 60mph’s?

    Any advice greatly received!

A very common race set up is a 1515 1y 2200kv Neu , CC240, 4s 1p and a m447 or a cut down and cupped x447/3. Temps do get up there but 2 min runs are fine. Speed's well into the 50's with a good set up.
    Hope this helps

10XL and 6S should get you where you want but you need at least a 8S capable ESC... 200A himodel or any expensive HV's!

Guys, thanks for your replies...all good helpful stuff, thanks.

Anymore thoughts on the 8XL vs 9XL idea - would the latter enable me to run an m445 (or similar) without risk of damaging anything, and still give good speed (ie late 40's/early 50's)? Or does this hull need to go down the Neu route if I stick with a 4S setup?

As much input as possible would be greatly received on prop/esc/motor combination to get this thing running quick without the risk of smoke.

        Cheers,
        Rob

A 580l on 6/7s dependant on KV or the other suggestions. Esc depends on your final choice and wallet. How long do you want to run?

            Hi Douggie

I don't mind really, say 3-5 minutes max run time is fine.
