Upsetting news out of Florida this morning

I just got off the phone with a good friend in Florida. Herb Stewart has been admitted into the hosptal. It doesn't sound good.
For those of you that don't know Herb, he has been heavily involved in model boating for over 40 years.

I'll post more when I know more.

Herb and I go back a long ways. He is my best buddy. I just talked to his mom. Herb is in bad shape. Let's all keep him in our thoughts and prayers.

I recently scored one of his tunnel hulls; a beautiful piece of work. My prayers go out to him to pull through.

Hang in there Herb

I hope Herb gets to read some of these posts.
Maybe we should get someone in his family to read them to him.
Herb I know you have raced for many years, but this has been Herb's year. You have impressed so many people at SAWS and the Georgia race club this past year.
I looked at the board tonite and saw 7 records set by Herb Stewart, that has to be some kind of single event SAWS record all in itself.
Beating that giant 50" + gas boat with your little electric tunnel was amazing to see at the Sycamore oval race. It's definetely been your year.
You really need to pull thru this one buddy, you have a lot of racing left in you, think how much more you can accomplish next year.

Ken, thanks for the kind comments. I am going to go see Herb tomorrow. His family said to hurry. It doesn't look good. I am going to print out all of your comments and take with me. I'm not sure he will be able to comprehend but let's hope so. It's hard to lose a friend of 30 years but especially one like Herb. He and I hooked back up about 4 years ago after a long break where he and I no longer raced model boats. It seemed we took up right where we left off. He is my closest friend. I hope he can pull through.

Reed Eagle and I went to see Herb this morning. He wasn't very awake while we were there but I printed out all of your comments and read them to him. We also let him know that he had been elected to the IMPBA Hall of Fame....a lifelong dream of his. His sister had told him that last night when he was more alert and she believes he understood. At this point, it appears to be a matter of hours or days. Thanks for all of your kind prayers and wishes. We will use this forum to keep you posted.

I placed a call to his mother this morning but had to leave a voice mail. I don't have any knowledge of his status. Driving me crazy too!

Im his grandson jeffrey, my dad said its getting bad quickly. When he left yesterday Herb wasnt really talking much anymore, he said he was mumbling about stuff more than actually talking. The other night i was able to read all the things you guys wrote to him over the phone and my dad said he understood most of it but he is in and out often. We appreciate your concerns.

Hi Jeffrey. I'm sorry you and I never met. Herb and I are very close friends. I'm happy if he understood what everyone has written about him. I went to see him two days ago and we think he knew we were there and I gave him best wishes from everybody. I have sent you a PM.

Herb's condition is unchanged as of this writing. That is good news. I will try to keep everyone posted.
