    question about sprint cat 40

my newly aquired 35" sprint cat has two "dips"

on the top deck...... out on the pickle forks....... on top of each fork about 4 to 5" back from the tip there is a slight dip

    is this normal?

its so slight that camera picture wont hardley pick it up and if the gel coat wasnt so glossy you probabley wouldnt notice it at all

By "dips" do you mean two concave areas in the top of the hull? How big/deep are they? I'm not where I can look at my SC40 but I don't remember anything like that....

I took a look at mine and didn't see anything like what you have described. If you post a pic with an arrow showing where its concave I'll take another look at mine.

Nope, I'm certain mine does not have anything like those. They sound like a manufacturing flaw, perhaps the deck was laid up too thin to save weight. In truth they should not make any difference to performance.

Ok here I blacked out the area in question and there is one just like it on the other fork...its about 3/16" to 1/4" deep dip

looks like randy (previus owner) used a foam in a can for flotation and I'm wondering if that could have "sucked" it down in that area

Jay you are right it dont look like it effects anything

probably pulled the deck out of the mould too green.

That area on mine is flat, as others have said it must be either the foam or how it was taken out of the mold.

I looked at mine and it does seem to have a slight hook

Sand all steps perfectly flat with a block sander. Mine did not have a hook but it did have a slight concavity in the back two steps. Flat is good, hooked/concaved is bad.
